The Management Information and Communications Technology Office (MICT) is responsible for the overall management, development, and support of the school’s information technology systems and infrastructure. It ensures that all technological initiatives and resources are aligned with the institution’s educational objectives, serving as the foundation of a modern learning environment that equips students, teachers, and staff with the necessary tools for effective teaching, learning, and administrative operations.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Ateneo Information System (AIS): This office is responsible for overseeing the AIS, an integrated digital platform that streamlines the school’s administrative, academic, and communication processes. The MICT Office ensures the effective operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the system, which connects students, parents, teachers, and administrators through a centralized platform for efficient management of records, transactions, and operations. By automating key functions such as enrollment, grading, attendance, and communication, the AIS promotes transparency, accuracy, and accountability across departments.
  • Infrastructure and Network Management: The MICT team designs, installs, and maintains the school’s entire IT network. This includes ensuring fast and reliable internet access, managing Wi-Fi networks in classrooms, and maintaining servers for school websites and databases. They are the ones who keep the school’s digital life running smoothly.
  • Hardware and Software Support: They manage all the school’s devices, such as computers, tablets, and projectors. They also handle software licensing, installation, and troubleshooting. When a teacher’s computer isn’t working or a student can’t log in, the MICT office is the first point of contact.
  • Data and Security: A critical part of their job is to protect student and staff data. The MICT implements cybersecurity measures to guard against threats, manages user accounts and passwords, and ensures that the school’s data is secure and compliant with privacy regulations.
  • Educational Technology Integration: The MICT office works closely with teachers to integrate technology into the curriculum. They help select and deploy educational apps and learning platforms, provide training for staff on how to use new tools, and assist in setting up smart classrooms and other tech-enhanced learning spaces.
  • Helpdesk and Technical Support: They run a helpdesk to provide quick and efficient support to the entire school community. This includes assisting with technical issues, answering questions about school technology, and training users to become more self-sufficient.
  • Strategic Planning: The MICT director works with school leadership to plan for future technology needs. They research new technologies, recommend upgrades, and create a long-term strategy to ensure the school’s technology infrastructure is always up-to-date and supports the institution’s vision.
