Program Offerings

The following are the Core Learning Area Standards (CLAS)—the learning outcomes students should be able to show upon completion of the ADI-SMCS’ basic education—of the different subject areas offered in school:
Chinese Program

Ann Marie L. Tan
Chinese Program SAC
sacchinese@adi.edu.ph
The program aims to equip learners with the fundamental skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing Chinese characters through diverse media of learning. These skills are to be practiced in daily and real-life situations using various forms of communication, both verbal and non-verbal, to meet the demands of a functionally literate and competent citizen in local, national, and global contexts. It likewise seeks to foster appreciation for and embodiment of Chinese culture and traditions, integrating them harmoniously with Filipino cultural practices through celebrations and festivities. Furthermore, it promotes the advocacy of learning the Chinese language and culture as a means of advancing globalization, social awareness, and camaraderie among diverse cultures. Ultimately, the program underscores the values of respect and reconciliation among God’s children, cultivating unity and a deep sense of rootedness in both Chinese and Filipino heritage.

The Christian Living and Values Education (CLVE) Program aims to form students in the spirit of Ignatian spirituality, encouraging them to embody its principles and share these values with others whenever opportunities arise. It seeks to nurture a steadfast commitment to the Catholic faith while fostering respect for other beliefs, guiding students to make informed decisions grounded in conscience. The program encourages responses to current social and moral issues in light of Church teachings and the signs of the times, and promotes active, full, and conscious participation in liturgical celebrations, particularly the Eucharist. It emphasizes the cultivation of a habit of prayer and reflection, the establishment of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer and scripture, and the recognition of the Church as a source of Truth. Furthermore, it aims to deepen the sense of stewardship over God’s creation and instill a spirit of service for others.

Standards of programs enumerated here, including the competencies and learning outcomes, go above and beyond the standards of DepEd. There are a few existing specialized, integrated, and additional subject areas (all nonetheless having standards beyond DepEd’s) that are not covered here due to their special nature. Most of which are from the Senior High School Unit, which includes, but is not limited to, Advanced Research, Work Immersion, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Philosophy, Business Ethics, Personal Development, Career Advocacy, Accounting, Business, and Management. They all have their respective supervisors, though, to make sure that the schools’ standards are still maintained.
All programs have their own comprehensive curriculum maps, while all subjects have course outlines as curricular references. Each program has sub-programs such as learning support (e.g., remediation, merit class, special tutorial) and yearly supplemental/institutional activities (e.g., Intramurals, STEAM, Pasundayag, Research Conferences, Language Fest, Social Awareness Talks, and the like) that are aligned with their respective CLAS. All documents and activities are regularly improved through vertical and horizontal articulations by the teachers themselves with the assistance of their program supervisors, academic administrators, and external expert, if needed.
